Grass trees

During our Black Cockatoo walk in Yanchep National Park last week we came across a lot of funny shaped flowers in the grass trees. I suppose it must have been the bush fire causing this?

Rainbow lorikeets and Wattle birds

This Wattle bird is the partner of the one in the bush who is fighting with the Rainbow lorikeets for his right to bade in the fountain.
This is a daily ritual here at home, Rainbow lorikeets screeming and fighting other birds, even the bigger ravens, to get a bath! There used to be ringnecks coming around but they were too gentle and chased away by the violent lorikeets.

Raven

Today I was working in my office when I heard something in the hallway. I always have all doors open so I was only a little bit surprised to see a big raven stepping over the runner. He was very friendly, this guy, but I moved him to the veranda anyway.

Normally the ravens are coming to have a drink in the fountain or dunk their crackers to make them soft.

Wood flowers

These wooden flowers where 'blooming' in an area where there had been a recent bush fire.

Grass trees

This grass tree flower was looking for something to get hold of so it took a few of it's own blades. How beautiful can nature be? We were doing the Black Cockatoo walk in Yanchep National Park.

Clouds

Friday night we are always going to the beach in Cottesloe, so also last Friday. It was a cloudy day but there was lots of blue sky after 5.30pm and the clouds were beautiful, changing shapes all the time.

Smelly Eucalyptus flowers

I smell these flowering Eucalyptus trees at the moment when I am cycling along the University of Western Australia near the river. But I took these photos when I smelled them again in New Norcia last Sunday. We walked along the cute little church when I recognized the smell and was very surprised to discover that the flowers actually grow on the branches of the tree... weird.

Nambung National Park

A hole in a pinnacle...
There are also a few weird looking hills in Nambung NP like little islands in the desert...

Yes!

Cervantes beach last week!

Nambung National Park

Also called The Pinnacles Desert. I was there last week Friday sunset. The pinnacles change in colour when the sun goes down; the colours get a golden shine. Unfortunately it was very clouded but luckily the sun was peeking through them several times as that made the views so much more beautiful as if the dry stones come alive.
