Bell flowers in Kings Park

I'd never seen this blooming bush before, it looks like a pink-grey-green bush but if you come closer you see that the flowers are like bells and heaps of bees where swarming in and out to have a nibble on the stamens.

Everlastings

It's wildflower festival in Kings Park. Sunday was THE day to visit it seems, big crowds of people were putting big noses into small colorful flowerheads to see it all from up close. I pretended to be a little insect, looking up through the huge stalks with papery pink and white flowers to a bright blue sky with a warm sun, total bliss!

Ox tongue...

Cooked an ox tongue today. I love the tender meat on my sandwich when it's cooked for three hours to a nice stock, will make a pumpkin soup of the stock tomorrow.
When I was getting the top skin off the tongue I was mesmerized with the size of the taste papillae (they are huge on the back of the tongue) and the other side of the skin is beautiful.

Strawberry

Did you know that strawberries where hairy? I ate this one with my breakfast; it was delicious! It's the same strawberry zoomed in as on the previous photos.

Seedlings

A few weeks back I'd made pumpkin soup of a big Queensland Blue pumpkin and I'd saved a few pips (the rest is eaten by the chickens) which I've dried and put in small pots. Three already came up, see here the seedlings.

Lavender

This photo alsmost looks like if I've played with the Photoshop filters but I haven't, as you can see on the insert left. All lavender in my garden comes from tiny cuttings, unbelievable when you look at the huge bushes they'd become.
Attracting bees and looking fabulous, they are a must in every garden. And they smell good too! They are growing all around my worm farm which is in the old ceramic water filter.

Bee in Arum lily

This busy bee is soaking up all the honey dew from the Arum lilies in our pond.

Aphids

My poor rose, this tiny little bud might not survive this vivid attack of the aphids...
I don't spray but every morning I inspect the roses and tick the green bugs off, they fall like rain drops in the pot and hopefully are not able to climb back up for the day to munch away on the tender leaves.

Apple blossom

The tiny apple tree I've got from a friend last year started blossoming and of course the aphids know it.

Strawberries

My first strawberries! They only need to grow a bit larger and turn bright red, yummy, can't wait!
